What Is with the Snow?!

Hi everyone!

My name is John Canning and I am currently an international student at JCC from Canada! You’ve probably have seen my broad chested physique walking around campus. I shall not bore you with my hot-aired boasting for much longer as this is moreso an introduction post and to get one thing straight out of the way… I love the snow! Bring it on! I reign from Kelowna, BC, which sits in the middle of the Okanagan valley. As a consequence of this, much of our weather is comparably mild due to both the heat-trapping of the valley and international pollutants that carry over the ocean (would you believe smog from China travels that far?) As such, we do get snow, obviously. Canada is known for its snow! But this Chautauqua snow is something else~! I don’t even need to go to the gym since merely walking to school every day gives me a leg workout! Regardless, I love it. The way that it creates a blanket over the town and makes it seem almost silent amidst all the bustling around.

Pictures right from my backyard. Many ask how we get so little snow. Lake effect.

The bridge that connects the lake that runs through the valley.

Hi, I'm John, and I am in JCC's nursing program on the Jamestown Campus. I'm from Kelowna, BC, Canada, and I am attending JCC to launch myself into a nursing career with a background in physiotherapy and exercise physiology. In my blog I'll be sharing things that I hope you'll be able to experience through my writing. Blogs are great because they're both personal and informative, and they spark discussion about issues and common ideas between people that might never meet under other circumstances. Expect topics such as the local music scene, college shenanigans, and current events from both the Canadian and American side of things!
