The lovely Plaza Mayor.

Hello! Well, I have officially been in Valladolid, Spain for one week! So much has happened already and it has left me super excited for the next three months.

When I first arrived I met my host family, and they’re absolutely incredible! I have a host mother (Elena), father (Mariano), sister (Elena), brother (Eduardo)…and dog (Indy)! They are really interesting and generous people. I also met up with Heather Espeso, owner/director of United Cultures S.L. She gave me my schedule for the English classes that I will be assisting with and conducting. I have a variety of classes and age groups that I am teaching, which gives me a little bit of everything!

During my week I explored a bit of the city, Valladolid. It is soo beautiful! There are numerous old churches, a lot of restaurants and bars, a beautiful river, and so much more. The people are are very helpful and friendly, which makes me feel a lot more comfortable, too.

Overall, I’ve had a busy and enjoyable first week–seeing new sights, teaching English, speaking a different language, adapting to another culture, making new friendships. I am so anxious and excited for the next 10 weeks of being abroad and am glad I can share my experiences with all of you! Talk to you soon!
