Wait, only 9 days left here in Australia?
How did that happen? Seems like only yesterday I was boarding my plane in Toronto and making my way to this beautiful country.
Since I last wrote, I took my final trip to Melbourne with seven of my friends. However, the beginning of the trip included a few setbacks. Cyclone Debbie decided to make her way down to the Gold Coast, resulting in the cancellation of our flight, setting us back one day. We flew out the next day and finally arrived in the wonderful city of Melbourne.
The first day we walked around the city. We saw the ACDC Lane, which is an alleyway filled with ACDC graffiti. After that, we went to see the Brighton Beach Houses, these tiny little shacks that are creatively painted by different artists.
The next morning, we woke up before the sunrise to start our journey along the Great Ocean Road, a scenic drive that is along the coast and ends at the Twelve Apostles. The drive was approximately 10 hours from our hotel and back again. The views were amazing and the ride was unreal. Although it was a long day, it was completely worth it.
Heading back to the Gold Coast, I wrapped up my last week of classes at Bond University. In between the last day of classes and finals week, there is a week break called “study week” which is basically like our spring break. I spent that week with two of my close friends, since all of our other friends took a trip to New Zealand. We rented a car for the week and explored all over the Gold Coast.
Visiting different beaches, watching the surfers, and having the entire apartment to ourselves, we had a great week. One morning we woke up at 4 a.m. to drive to the Currumbin Beach to see the sunrise. We were exhausted, but the view was absolutely breathtaking. That day we also drove up Mt. Tambourine to and stopped at the lookout points on the way up the mountain. It was so cool to see the city from all the way up there.
After all of our friends returned from New Zealand, we have been trying to go to the beach as much as we can, since our days are limited here. For Easter Sunday, there was a music festival on our favorite beach. We laid in the sun and listened to the different bands preforming all day.
After the week of fun, it was back to reality and time to start studying for my final on Saturday. Trying to make the best of the last couple days, but still squeeze in my studying time pool side!
