Looking Back

I can’t believe these four months of pure bliss are actually over.

As I sit here in the Sydney International Airport awaiting my flight back to the states, I realize how truly blessed I am to have had this opportunity. When I first started my journey to Australia, I made a promise to myself that I would make the most of every single moment. And thats exactly what I did. Traveling, studying, going to the beach, pool or mall, or even just spending time with my friends, there was never a dull moment.

I was fortunate enough to travel to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Noosa Heads, and even Bali. I was basically a regular at the Gold Coast Airport. They probably know me on a first-name basis.

Looking back, I can say with complete confidence that it truly was the best four months of my life. It wouldn’t of been the same without my core group of friends that I made along the way. Starting with the road trip to Noosa Heads, the seven of us became closer than I could of ever imagined. There wasn’t a day that went by where we didn’t spend every waking moment together.

The day started with going out for breakfast, then we separated for classes, then we would meet back up again right after and finish off the day by going to the beach or pool. The trip just wouldn’t be the same without my seven best friends. As we said our goodbyes, all of us teared up at the thought of not being with each other every second of everyday. Even before we left, we were already making plans to meet up again this summer to reconnect.

If I could give one piece of advice, it would be to study abroad if the opportunity is there. This has opened my eyes to what this world has to offer outside of Jamestown, New York. I believe that this trip has strengthened my social skills and helped me to become a more independent person.

When anyone asks me about how my trip is going, I could write an entire essay on how much fun and eye opening this entire experience was. With this being my final post, my last words are STUDY ABROAD and get out there and see what this beautiful world has in store for you.

Lauren Tordella

Hello Everyone! My name is Lauren Tordella. I am from Ashville, New York and I attend Jamestown Community College. This spring semester, I am traveling to Gold Coast, Australia to study abroad at Bond University. I am a business major, but have interest in event planning. At Bond, I will be taking Rainforest Analysis, Australia Popular Culture and International Trade. I am very excited about these classes and cannot wait to dive into them. While I’m in Australia, I plan to do as much traveling as I can. I want to see all the most popular and beautiful places that Australia has to offer. Other than traveling, I will be spending most of my time at the pool in my apartment complex, at the beach or at the gym. Considering that I will only be here four short months, I want to make the most of every minute and can’t wait to immerse myself into the Australian culture and lifestyle.
