Being a Student Senator at Jamestown Community College, I figured I would simply attend weekly meetings, plan a few events, and of course, represent the student body. Being given the opportunity to speak with the SUNY Chancellor and then meet the Governor of New York State was something I had never imagined.
JCC to me was never more than the local community college where it seemed everyone that I graduated with would attend. My personal opinions on JCC were not the very best and I was very hesitant about attending. Long story short, I decided to give JCC a chance and in doing so, I have made one of the very best decisions in my life thus far.
Joining Student Senate for me was a fun way to get involved, something that would give me experience and look pretty snazzy on my resume. Little did I know I would be given such amazing opportunities in little old Jamestown, New York.
As I heard the Governor speak about Start-Up New York and being fortunate enough to be able to listen to him in person, I was humbled to be a student at a college that has put its name on the map as a major SUNY institution. JCC always seems to surpass all of my expectations and keeps providing me with once in a lifetime opportunities I am extremely grateful for.
