Best Friends Take on Ireland

Every day I’m here, I’m still in awe that I live in Ireland. Yes, it may only be for 5 months, but I still live day to day just as I do at home, except here I have amazing adventures and meet new people each day. I never thought it get any better than this. Then my best friend sent me this picture….

I couldn’t believe that my best friend would be coming to visit me and we would get to travel and explore Ireland together! I immediately made an itinerary and before I knew it, she was here! First we went to TGIF night at one of the pubs on my campus so she could meet all of my friends. It ended up being St. Patricks Day themed and everyone was drenched in green besides us! The next day we went into Limerick city to go to the milk market (which I’m obsessed with) to get lunch and I showed her around the city! We found a really cute, local pub where the locals were watching rugby. There was screaming and cheering and it was so fun to see how into it they all were! On the next day, we went on a hike to the highest peak in Ireland (which I mentioned it my last post) that was the highlight of the trip. I thought it was a good idea to pose and Karie just held on tighter!

Then we went on a trip to Dublin! We wandered around the city and shopped a lot. We met so many new people in our hostel and around the city.

Back in Limerick…

Once we returned back to Limerick we went exploring in the city some more and Karie got to know my roommates, we even had a family dinner in the city one night!

And then Galway!

The next destination on the itinerary was Galway! My favorite town to visit in Ireland and we found out it was Karie’s as well. In Galway, we did some more shopping and Karie decided to get her ear pierced as a memory of the city. We ate some great food and went on a pub crawl through the hostel we stayed at. We ended up meeting some great people from all over the world. Our roommate was from Germany and we convinced him to go out to meet other people with us. It ended up being a great night! We also met people from New Zealand, Canada, Pennsylvania, the U.S. and of course, Ireland. We had a fun time dancing with the locals in cozy pubs and exploring the city at night. We became such good friends with one of the people we met that night and ended up traveling around Ireland with him the next day! We went to the Cliffs of Moher and toured the countryside. Later that night, when our adventuring was over, we went to a Munster Rugby game! We both loved it so much we even bought our own jerseys! It was so exciting to be in the middle of so much cheering while watching a sport that is so prominent in Ireland.

Overall, it was a great trip with my best friend and such an awesome experience to be able to travel together while I’m studying here.
